Host organisation for mission teams

Bring your team on a short-term mission trip to Thailand

We host church, YWAM and ministry teams in Mae Sai, Chiang Rai, at Thailand’s border with Myanmar and Laos. Your team serves alongside local Thai churches and schools, and the relationships keep going after you fly home.

What teams say

This is my third time bringing teams from Canada to volunteer with KMI Foundation Thailand, and every visit has been a meaningful experience. Together, we have served children through English camps, medical camps, and fun activities in villages and border communities around the Golden Triangle. The location gives us opportunities to connect with communities across Thailand, Myanmar, and Laos. We are grateful to KMI for their professional organization, thoughtful care for our teams, and the love of God they demonstrate through their ministry. Thank you, KMI, for helping us serve with purpose!

AnnaCanada · Team leader · YWAM volunteer teams

Serving alongside KMI Thailand was an opportunity to put my faith into practice in simple, practical ways. I enjoyed meeting people, learning about the community, and seeing the dedication of the team. I was reminded that even small acts of kindness, encouragement, and service can mean a great deal. I am thankful for the opportunity to learn and contribute.

MariaUnited States · Mission & community service

I was encouraged by KMI Thailand’s commitment to serving people through education, relationships, and faith. Meeting people from different cultural backgrounds reminded me that we may speak different languages, but we can still share kindness, hope, and a desire to help others. I appreciated the welcoming team and the opportunity to learn from their experience in cross-cultural ministry.

Team questions

How long should a mission team stay?

Most teams serve for 7–14 days. We can build a programme for shorter or longer trips around school terms and local church calendars.

How big can our team be?

Teams of 4–20 work well. Larger groups are possible with more notice so we can arrange transport, venues and accommodation.

Where do teams stay?

Teams usually stay in guesthouses or hotels in Mae Sai, close to our centre. We help you book and arrange local transport from Chiang Rai airport (CEI).

When is the best time to come?

November to February is cool and dry. Schools are in session from mid-May to September and November to March — ideal for school programmes. Christmas outreaches are a highlight.

Is Mae Sai safe for volunteers?

Mae Sai is a friendly border town. Like anywhere, use normal care. The main seasonal risk is flooding in the rainy season (roughly August–October). We brief every volunteer on arrival and stay in close contact.
